Yesterday was practice at Prescott, and I managed to beat my handicap.
Most people would probably say that’s bad strategy… because now they might lower my handicap for today’s event. 😅
The truth is, I don’t really think about strategy.
For me, Prescott is one of the few places where I can safely explore what both the car and I are capable of. There’s no traffic, no horses around the next bend, no speed limits… just me, the Bugatti and the hill.
I’m always trying to go as fast as I can… without breaking the car. That’s the balance. I want to drive it properly, enjoy it, and bring it back in one piece.
Practice is there to learn. If I want to know whether taking a corner differently works, or whether carrying a little more speed is possible, I have to try it. Otherwise, how would I ever improve?
The clock isn’t really my opponent. It’s simply a way of measuring whether I’m becoming a better driver than I was yesterday.
And if I wake up with butterflies before a run… it’s usually because I know I might get a little carried away. 😅 I get so caught up in the moment that I have to remind myself there’s a fine line between driving well and pushing just a bit too much.
Now I’m curious… after yesterday’s time, are they going to lower my handicap again? 😅
Let’s find out! 🏁🐞

Well done
